Last Saturday, I craved for something sweet and I remembered this dessert that our housekeeper used to make and that is Minatamis na Saging. This is the usual Filipino merienda that we Filipinos love to eat. Very easy and quick to make, I am sure you will love making this for your family.
If you do not like very sweet outcome, just lessen the sugar. Tip#1: please use very ripe saba bananas so the outcome will be very tender. You can check the outside of the saba as yellowish and when you touch it, it is somewhat already soft. Tip#2: Add evaporated milk and ice cubes when ready to eat. The sauce will become very creamy and I just like that it's very cold, perfect as summer dessert!
Ingredients:
5-6 ripe saba bananas, cut diagonally
2 cups water
3/4 cup brown sugar
pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
evaporated milk (optional)
ice cubes (optional)
Procedure:
1. Boil water in a cooking pot then add brown sugar, salt and vanilla extract. Thoroughly mix it.
2. Add the bananas and lower heat.
3. Simmer until the liquid thickens (10-15 minutes).
4. Allow to cool then add evaporated milk and ice cubes per serving.

Ginisang Baguio Beans with Pork (Sauteed Green Beans with Pork)
Whenever I want veggies for our lunch or dinner, I always include Baguio Beans on things I buy on the market. These beans are a few of the vegetables that the kids wanted to eat, so I always include these on my budget for food.
I always use ground beef or pork together with the beans. They are a perfect match so to speak. But, I ran out of ground meat so I used small cuts of pork and it still tastes delicious! Try this simple recipe, I bet even your kids will love this dish!
Ingredients
4 bundles of Baguio Beans, about 1/2 kilo, sliced diagonally
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 medium sized onion, sliced
1 medium sized tomato, diced
1/4 kilo of pork, cut into small cubes(just like that on menudo recipe)
1 pork cube
1 tablespoon fish sauce (patis)
1 cup water
1 sachet or 60g of oyster sauce(I used Mama Sita)
2 tablespoon of vegetable oil
salt and pepper to taste
Procedure:
1. Heat oil in a pan.
2. Saute garlic, onion and tomato.
3. After the tomato becomes soft, add the pork and continue sauteing until the pork turns to light brown. Add the pork cube and fish sauce.
4. Continue stirring until pork becomes fully cooked.
5. Add the sliced beans, water and oyster sauce, continue stirring(this is the best time to add salt and pepper according to your taste) and cover the pan.
6. Cook for 3-5 minutes
7. Transfer to serving plate.

Pork Mechado with Hotdogs (Pork Stew with Hotdogs)
I planned to use beef for this, but I don't have available beef so I used pork. Feel free to use beef if you don't want to use pork. Also, cut the pork in big cubes and you can add more carrots or potatoes if you want.
This is a very tasty meal. I used Del Monte Quick N Easy Mechado Mix where you don't have to use the usual garlic and onion but I still used these. I feel that it's still lacking in taste if I don't add those.
The hotdogs are really for the kids. Sometimes, they tend to just chew the pork and not eat it, so I added the hotdogs so they will not end up having just the sauce and nothing more.
If you want an easy to sweat lunch or dinner for your family try this and enjoy eating this with your family!

1/2 kilo pork, cut into big cubes

Mango Graham Cake
This dessert has been a staple in our home. I always do this whenever me and my daughter crave for easy dessert or merienda. Sometimes, around midnight, I do this so I could store it in the ref overnight and in the morning, it’s already ready to be eaten since the cream had already set.
I will give you two advice so you could successfully make this delicious dessert. One, put the all purpose cream on the ref for a minimum of 6 hours or overnight so it will not be too liquid when you mix it with the condensed milk. Second, use a hand mixer to mix the cream and the condensed milk. The result, will be a very fluffy cream. If you don’t have a hand mixer, you can use an egg beater or wire whisk. Please, please do this, you can thank me later
By the way, I used three all purpose cream and one condensed milk so it would not be too sweet. You can use 2:2 ratio for the cream and condensed milk, it will be sweeter so it’s really up to you.
Ingredients:
2 packs of Graham Biscuits (crash excess Graham Biscuits for topping)
3 All Purpose Cream (tetra pack)
1 Condensed Milk (pls disregard pic, actual used was condensed milk)
2 Sweet Mangoes
Procedure:
1. Cut the sweet mangoes, removing the middle part. Cut it in half moon shape and set aside.
2. Using an 8×8 pan, line up Graham biscuits at the bottom and put some of the mangoes on top of it.
3. Mix the all purpose cream(consistency must be like below pic) and condensed milk and by using a hand mixer, mix them vigorously until fluffy.
4. Scoop the mixture on top of the biscuit and mango and spread it evenly.
5. Repeat the procedure until you’ve come up with 3 layers.
6. Finish by putting the excess crashed biscuits on top.
7. Chill overnight and enjoy in the morning!
